ABOUT ME

martin2.jpg

I am passionate about making. Being a maker is not just what I do, it is who I am.

I adore simplicity of form, shapes that speak for themselves and beautiful yet functional detail.

My design influences are largely 20th century, including Art Deco and particularly Scandinavian Mid Century.

My journey to becoming a furniture maker began in 2011 after a life changing work accident left me hospitalised for 4 months and in a wheelchair for over a year afterwards.

It was during my rehabilitation that I realised I needed a focus, something other than the challenge of learning to walk again.  This is when I began to explore my love of creating along with my love of wood, one of nature’s most beautiful and versatile resources.

Since then, I have gone from being a largely self-taught hobbyist to a professionally trained craftsman, having studied at one of Britain’s most respected furniture schools, Williams & Cleal, in Somerset.

Now, I love nothing more than the challenge of bringing new ideas to life as pieces of furniture made to heirloom quality.
